Hi. I’m an Irish artist and work mainly in watercolour and mixed media. My favourite subject to paint is the sunflower, although during an unexpected stay in India for 7 years I painted a series of Indian Women in their amazingly coloured sarees. I’m back home in Dublin, Ireland now, where I live with my husband and two daughters. Although I say “home”, I can’t ever forget my home in India and the impact it has made on my life and my work. At present I feel as though I’m passing through a huge life experience where my memories of India are merging with my present life in Ireland like a strange dream. I feel as though I’m starting on a new journey with my work and am interested in sharing this with the world!
I have a fascination for Tarot cards and all things esoteric. I first became interested as a teenager. In those days you couldn’t buy Tarot cards in the shops, so I was determined to make my own. I started copying the Rider Waite Smith designs from a book I had on Tarot by Eden Grey, onto blank postcards. Since then, I have progressed to watercolour paper and am using images from art history to bring my Tarot to life.

Dear Kate
This is amazing. I truly love your style and passion for colors.
You truly Inspire me for many reasons, yet for me to discuss. Maybe you already know.
I wanted to let you know from seeing your website address on FAA – viewing your gallery I came to visit here to.
I believe in these cards, and I hope I can find someone to help me understand my tarot readings etc. But I believe I already know. But what a great idea to design tarot cards.
I just purchased some pastels and thought through my pain, I can do that in my limited areas where I sit and this way I can work on my art more often for when I can’t get in my art room to paint.
Thank you! Your amazing and I hope we can keep in touch. You give me such happiness with your work, you get me exciting to try different blends, your kind words and comments always brightens my days and you paint sunflowers which are my favorite flower so beautiful.
Thank you. I could go on and on. So I best stop here, before I start repeating myself and writing you a novel of thank you’s…. Your amazing!

Thank you so much Chrisann. Since I last emailed you I have been doing more exploration into art as therapy and there are a couple of books that I thought you might be interested in. One is called, “Drawing Out Your Soul” by Deborah Koff-Chapin which teaches how to get in touch with your innermost self using a very simple technique of drawing with your hands. She has also produced some beautiful cards (like Tarot) but they do not have particular meanings assigned to them. Instead you read them by your own intuition. The other book is called Inner Landscapes by Wendy Hawkins and you can purchase this on Lulu.com. In this book, Wendy documents how she deals with pain and how working with mandalas can answer many questions about her life. I’m sure these books will really help you. All art is meditative and brings healing….so never give up!
Love and Hugs,
Kate
